Gelston's Corner at The Park Avenue Hotel in Belfast Northern Ireland is renowned for its great food and wonderful hospitality. The origin of Gelston's Corner at Strandtown, it is believed that the present pub on the corner was known as Gelston's Public House. In 1870 Strandtown was a village separate from Belfast and had a population of some 140. Mrs Gelston owned the property which was an inn, groceries and provisions store. Even though she was only there for a short while she succeeded in leaving her name behind for Gelston's Corner is still known and used today.
